Omar Umanzor
Since a young boy I was always drawn to the arts. My first real introduction to professional work was a school trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY, and to this day I still have the book of Michelangelo's drawings I bought at the shop. I was 10 at the time but it wasn't until my first year at Art School that I held a professional camera. Our assignment was to go out into the city and take a picture and do something creative with it. I decided to make a painting out of my picture, it was of a young impatient boy waiting for the bus with his mother, it had charm. Art school was short lived, and my interests moved towards music for the rest of my 20's but photography still intrigued me.
Canon AE-1 was my very first camera, that wasn't a point and shoot. It cost me about $75 on eBay and I ended up buying two, because the first one didn't fire. The summer of 2017 is when my obsession began, I was outside everyday taking pictures all over NYC, learning all the ins and outs of photography. My love for photography over time has grown into a business that I am now very proud of. Photography is my excuse to be adventurous, meet and interact with new people, and explore parts of the world I wouldn't normally go to. The ability to capture a moment in time that can be viewed and enjoyed by everyone, not just myself.
